I broke one of my cardinal rules this weekend and actually went to a church dance for young single adults.  And yes, I had fun.  I know.  I am so ashamed.

While the DJ did play some pretty rockin' dance tunes, there were a few songs that on principal alone I had to protest (that Cee Lo song, anything by Britney... grrr).

PTP: "Home Sweet Home"

I'm feeling a little homeless right now.

I spent three wonderful weeks at "home" in Dallas.  Christmas was great.  New Year's was great.  But as the time drew nearer for me to return "home" to Austin, I started thinking.

I love going to Dallas, spending time with family and friends, relaxing and basically doing nothing.  But yet, Dallas is not home.  I don't really live there anymore.

I love living in Austin, going to school, working, spending time with friends and having fun.  But yet, Austin doesn't feel like home.  Living here was always a temporary situation.

I think I'm part nomad.

Anyways.  In the next six months I'm going to have to figure out exactly where home is.  Until then, the following playlists will have to suffice.

PTP: "The Scenic Route"

This Pick a Theme Playlist probably needs an explanation.

I took a drive this afternoon - a wonderful drive, a beautiful, soul-rejuvenating, wind-in-the-hair, sunny-day drive. It was awesome. Instead of my usual fare of hard-rockin', sing-at-the-top-of-my-lungs, blow-the-speakers-out music, I opted for something a little different.

All of the songs on this playlist have what I like to refer to as "The Slow Build." They start off slow, mellow, acoustic... then slowly build, increase tempo and volume, add percussion and instrumentals... until the moment where it finally breaks out into a gut-wrenching sound that usually brings a tear to my eye. Simply beautiful.

For some reason today's drive needed a soundtrack with Slow Build songs.

So if you ever need to just escape for a little while, take the scenic route and listen to these songs. You won't regret it.
