late night randomness...

  • I have been sleeping on top of my mattress for the past two weeks because my one set of bed sheets, along with practically every towel I own (bath towels, hand towels, dish towels, swim towels, cleaning towels), is sitting in a pile on the ground in my study, just waiting to be washed.
  • I can't believe that it's been almost a year since I've seen J&R. I think I'm going through withdrawals and it's making me sad. Spain is a go for next summer, but when and where are we getting together this year?!
  • To borrow a phrase from Melissa, I think I need to "mantra-fy" my apartment soon. Achieving your goals is just so much more fun when you have feel-good reminders plastered all over the walls and mirrors.
  • Working at the bookstore is slowly draining my soul. I think it might be time to quit.
  • I refuse to "go green." I don't buy into any of it. I think it's all a sham and I proudly drive my truck all over Austin, drinking my Dasani water and not recycling the bottles.
  • I ran into a dear friend tonight at work whom I had not seen in about eight years. A new mother of twin girls, she looked wonderful and it made me so happy to see her and get her number so we can get together soon and reminisce about driving to Deep Ellum to eat quesadillas at Cafe Brazil.
  • I am a strong believer in turn lanes. I think it should be a federal mandate that all roads have designated left- and right-hand turn lanes. It would make traffic so less congested and cause a whole lot less road rage.
  • Even though I promised myself that I wouldn't buy anymore music from iTunes for a while, I downloaded two albums from a new band that I recently discovered and I absolutely love them. New music is always worth the price.
  • For Christmas, I think I am going to buy myself a 9mm Glock. Now I just have to find ammo.
  • I started reading the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series this week and I think they are excellent books. As good as Harry Potter? Probably not. But definitely worth picking up.
  • I'm not necessarily proud of this, but I have perfected the art of procrastination so well that I almost can't function any other way. It's a positive reinforcing behavior that has gotten me this far, so why stop now?
  • I really miss my siblings. Having always had someone around when we were growing up, it's hard when we only get together once, maybe twice a year. We've grown apart emotionally as we've all grown apart physically and I wish had the courage to tell each of them exactly how I feel, but I'm afraid of how they will react.
  • The highlight of my day is watching syndicated episodes of What I Like About You on ABC Family. Seriously.
  • I am in desperate need of a black purse, but the only ones that appeal to me are from Coach and cost anywhere from $300 to $700, and I am just not prepared to spend that much money on a purse at this point in my life.
  • August is one of my favorite months because all of my favorite TV shows come out on DVD before the new seasons start in September.
  • I think it's time to finally buy an iPhone.
  • My friend Doug left Austin yesterday to move back to Utah and I never got a chance to say goodbye. Which makes me sad.
  • Sometimes I wonder if *this* is as good as it gets.
  • I really should think twice before I start making a list of this nature at 1:00 in the morning.

  1. Sniff sniff. I miss you too! I can't believe it's been a year. I am so up for a vacation (vacay!). Ooh, we could fly down there? See your Austin lifestyle. Your new pad. Your gas guzzler (what global warming?)
