"I'm gonna say hello..."

So last week I was watching an episode from Grey's Anatomy and there was this scene between Dr. Alex Karev and a patient with extremely bad luck. He has a very pessimistic attitude about life and all the things that happen to him, yadda, yadda, yadda, through a series of comedic accidents they find he has pancreatic cancer, but are able to operate and save his life (typical Grey's plot line). The patient, upon realizing that his luck is turning around, says that he is finally going to do something about the cute girl at the grocery store: "I'm gonna say hello..." It's actually a really good scene and it has stuck with me over the past week.

"I'm gonna say hello..." - such a simple statement, but I think it represents a lot. It's taking that first step to try something new, getting past your fears and putting yourself out there. It's about taking a risk, not knowing what the outcome will be. It's playing the game and letting the chips "fall where they may" (that one's for you, Jewels! "Screw you, I hate high school!").

Last week I "said hello"...and it turned out pretty good. I think it will be my project for the month of December (Code Name M&M), and while I won't go into details, it should be fun (Michelle - you know what I'm talking about!).

So, I challenge you all to "say hello" this next week and let me know how it goes!
