Look back at me...

My new obsession is the BBC 2004 miniseries North & South, based on the novel of the same name by Elizabeth Gaskell. The first time I watched the 4-hour miniseries, I really, really liked it. The second time I watched the 4-hour miniseries, I absolutely loved it. Now I am reading the book and it has become a full-on obsession.

Akin to the Jane Austen-classic Pride & Prejudice, the main characters, Mr. John Thorton and Miss Margaret Hale, have a strong, prejudiced dislike for one another. There are misunderstandings, scandals, a marriage proposal in the middle, a refusal, a reverse of feelings and of course.....a final kiss! The miniseries deviates quite a bit from the original novel, but I think it works for the purposes of the movie.

It is a wonderful story about love conquering all and, like I said, I am becoming a tad bit obsessed.

The other reason why I love it so much? I present the handsome and dashing Richard Armitage!

The man is just downright attractive. Wonderful actor, too.

My favorite line from the movie is when Margaret is leaving the town of Milton, after she says goodbye to John, he watches the carriage drive away and says very passionately:

"Look back. Look back at me."

Ahh! Be still my heart!
